Moths: Coxcomb Prominent

in photography •  7 years ago

This imitation of a bit of wood is called coxcomb prominent (Ptilodon capucina), kroonvogeltje in Dutch:

Olympus Stylus 1s, 42mm, ISO1600, f4, 1/125s

These are common in Europe, and all the way east to Japan. In The Netherlands, they fly (at night) from April to September, and are often found on oak and birch.
