Yay, a Skipper

The chequered skipper (Carterocephalus palaemon), bont dikkopje in Dutch, isn't doing very well here and getting rarer, with ups and downs over the years; they have a chequered history in The Netherlands.

Haha.

They are still around though, like this one I saw yesterday:

It's the most colourful of the skippers here. Note the peculiar comma-shaped ends of its antennae, uncommon in butterflies.

And no, this is not a moth, as many people seem to think.
