Predjama Castle

Today we made another trip to visit two famous Slovenian touristic sites. It was a long exhausting day but we enjoyed it very much.

In the next couple of posts, I'll try to present them to you. My writing in English is still not good enough to go into details, but if you want to find out more you know whom to ask.

Predjama castle was mentioned for the first time in 1274, but 1570 was renovated and got today's form and shape.

It was unbeatable and with secret tunnels in the back connected with the outside world to get the supplies.

Stunnig woodcraft.

Erazem Predjamski was the most famous and known knight.

Behind the arched doors were the horse stables.

The openings above the entrance served for throwing rocks and boiling oil on intruders.

You can see how easy and fun task it was.

They can use more sophisticated and stinky weapons in case of an emergency.

Thick walls and heavy iron bars.

Another layer of protection.

Stay tuned for more.

Nice photographs and we can see many things of castle in the picture because here in UK mostly photography is not allowed inside the castle.

Probably they are better preserved.

Great photography . Good job dear oldtimer!!

Hello oldtimer, very good your publication, I love the castles, because they are dismal and mysterious, with those secret passages that were used in wars as hiding places or emergency exits, also calls my attention the coats of arms, formerly families with power acquisitive owners of their own coat of arms and even made a statue alluding to the patriarch of the family, very good publication that adds more knowledge of history to your followers grateful for that, greetings @oldtimer

Very beautiful place and excellent excellent photo 😱really I love your photo graphy. My dear friend oldtimer..love you

This is so cool. Amazing how it is built into the mountain. It must have felt so cool to walk through there. Did you feel the moisture and coolness from the rock? What a great attraction to visit. So much history as well.

Great pictures. Amazing site. Was it built into a natural cleft in the rock face? Or, did the builders excavate the cleft and then build?

@oldtimer, Castle are amazing to watch for sure and when we explore Castle for sure with the Exploration we can feel the Ancientness.

And in my opinion first picture is enough to attract because its reflecting as Nature is trying to expand the Construction of this Castle.

And every picture holds the different essence for sure and also hold the Ancientness in every Structures.

And for sure that art hold an beautiful aspect and that means, no matter what Dogs are best friends of human beings in any ages.

Wishing you an great day and stay blessed. 🙂

howdy sir oldtimer! oh man I love these old castles, I hope you have more shots of the inside, wouldn't that be something to live in a place like that? I bet it has good views too. great photos sir!

I want to go there. Really nice.

That first photo is like from a magazine! That is a perfect place to build a castle. I guess nobody dared to attack it as it was so difficult to approach.

I'm surprised it's so quiet.. if I would be in the neighborhood I would definitely come to visit!

What an amazing place!

Ese castillo no solo es lindo y espectacular por dentro sino que por el lugar donde se encuentra ubicado le da todavia un toque mucho más Mágico @oldtimer

it is very beautiful history! thanks

What a great castle. It looks straight out of a fairy tale! The shot down the chute where they dropped things on the enemy is so cool. Little do the unsuspecting tourists on the bridge know what danger they are passing through!

I knew you'll like this detail, hehe.

Awesome! Thank you so much för infos and photos of this interesting as castle!

It is impressive how many years that castle has and how well it was built, besides the structure that was made practically under the mountain, also the relics that keeps inside of which are much of the history! They are beautiful photos thanks for sharing
