Spices Of Middle East

in photography •  7 years ago  (edited)

Today I'll show you some interesting stuff from our visit to Dubai Global Village. In one of the many pavilions, they have a nice spice market. I don't remember which country it was but I think that's not important because the spices are same or similar in this region. And probably there is also a lot of imported ones too.

Comming from the Mediterranean country I'm familiar and proud of our cuisine and selection of spices.

I find out how poor is my knowledge on this topic. At first, I try to read the labels and ask some questions, but I soon figured out that it's pointless.
Merchants and customers start staring at me and I can saw in their eyes what they think about a clueless stranger.

I grabbed my phone. It knows better what to do in this kind of situation than me. It's a smartphone; how can an oldtimer compete with this kind of sophisticated machine. The only thing I can do is to click the trigger.

And here are some of the results.

There was not much barter. Maybe customers were scared of the knife the boss keeps on his belt.

I'll try to find more photos for you. Have a great day and see you tomorrow.

Great post @oldtimer. One of the last things I thought I'd see on Steemit.
So true re spice knowledge and being a 1st gene from a Mediterranean country, I'm proud of our cuisine and spices. A close friend of mine who is from Montreal (and hockey beer league teammate) started this company here in LA about a decade ago. http://spicestationsilverlake.com/

This is truly amazing spice market, so beautifully styled with immaculate all ingredients for a complete cooking, it is very fascinating to these sights. thank you for sharing @oldtimer. 😊

Not only for buying but looking around is also a pleasure!

This is a real Paradise for a person who likes to cook. I can imagine how delicious the aroma of spices! Stunningly!

It looks like there would be many spices there that I would be unfamiliar with, too! I bet it smelled great in there.

I like to see spices in your photos as spices in your place just like in my area

On the sixth picture, what are those rocks?

Dubai " where Life get to meet dreams "....

I think that knife is a part of their clothing. Some knifes have really very nice colors and designs. Had always the thought about buying one for home decoration.
I use mostly TripAdvisor before going anywhere to learn more about places and the opinions of other travelers. But in that market you will find many strange things that you see for the first time :)

@oldtimer have you visited Abu Dhabi? I will be going to Dubai between 26.04-03.06... hope the weather will be gentle. looking forward seeing more! cheers!

Various types of spices, for all these spices, we feel so good to eat our whole day's meal

Nice market!

I know little to nothing about spices, but my wife on the other hand before she got ill and had to limit the spices in her food would have loved to visit a Market such as this she would have been overwhelmed but so excited by all the spices

Pro being life at middle-east: lot of spices available
