📷 Photo experiments - comprehend the basics of composition!

Looking through my photos from my last trip to the estuary.

I try to delve into the theme of compositions!

Rule 15 states:

The rule of space relates to the direction the subject(s) in your photo are facing or moving towards.

Found photos that help to implement this rule:

I would really appreciate it if you told me what composition rules I did not take into account!

Hope you enjoyed watching this photo!

maybe the rule of 3rds? the sea is close to the middle. doesn't bother me though but maybe its technically wrong?
Try to crop half of the sky and see how it looks

If I get you right.
Here are the options:

How is it better?

I can't tell you how since I'm no expert on the issue, but as someone who like to take photos of the sea, I heard that from many people.
the cropped image feels more right to me. If I had to guess why - I'd say since the sky are not very interesting, cropping them is helping put more focus on the subject, which is the bird.

As general rule I try to put the horizon around either the lower or the upper third, depend if I want to emphesize the sky or foreground. I find to to be a good rule of thumb in my photography, but I bet like any rule it can be broken in a brilliant way, I personally am not in a level to do so.

So which version of the photo do you like most?

I like the composition, the photo I would have made a little lighter and more contrast if you do not mind sharing my work :)
