Nikon COOLPIX 950 was almost a premium digital model those days. My first "serious" digital cam, after my big disappointment in my debut model, some cheapie from VIVITAR.
2Mpix, swivel lens, 3× optical zoom and minimum distance just 2 cm.
WoW !
Coolpix 950 served me well for maybe 3 or 4 years. But then the avalanche of new competitors began, a better and better models started to roll out almost every month.

Dang, that's beautiful! 17 years ago too. Cameras don't seemed to have advanced quite as quickly as some other technology, but if you're just looking at MP detail you can get pretty crazy resolutions these days.
