Photoblog: Top 7 Animals at the Copenhagen Zoo - Ranked

in photography •  5 years ago  (edited)

A few weeks ago, I visited the Copenhagen Zoo in Denmark. To be completely honest, I was fairly surprised by the size of the zoo and the variety of animals that were present for what can be called a "medium-sized" city. At the end of the day, I was going though some of the pictures/videos we took with my friends and ended up ranking our top sights of the day. I thought I would share the ranking of our top 7 picks for anyone who might be considering visiting Copenhagen or anyone that simply loves animals.

PS: Some animals were sleeping or hard to see and therefore did not make it to this list. There were a few other incredible animals though...

Without further ado, let's start...

Number 7: This poser right here:
I can almost swear this bear was working the crowd for at least 10 minutes, sitting and striking poses for different parts of the crowd.

Number 6: This little cub learning to swim and chase fish:
It was a fairly warm day for a polar bear and this adorable little polar bear cub had enough and decided to go for a refreshing dip.

Number 5: These sun-loving seals
I mean, a seal's gotta keep its tan on, right!?
There was a third one swimming around and trying to get their attention but these two did not even flinch. Look at those faces... Simply loving it!

Number 4: This little guy that had the longest week
Aww! This chimpanzee looked like it had the toughest of weeks. Well, or may be a drink too many of that banana liqueur.

Number 3: These little happy-feet
Will you just look at these guys waddle around and do the "penguin shimmy" 😍 (watch closely 0:09 - I guess you gotta go when you gotta go - haha)

Number 2: Honorary mention: The "invisible" Sloth
So, yes, I know I said if the animals were not visible they would not make it to the list. But let's face it, it is a universal fact that sloths are one of the cutest animals out there. And apparently there was a sloth at the Copenhagen Zoo. Well I say "apparently" as we only saw a sign saying there was a sloth in that area. Unfortunately no real sign of the sloth though. But we love you anyway the invisible sloth!

Number 1: This lazy adorable eating-machine
This panda adorably sat right in front of one of the restaurants, leaning on a rock, watching the customers eat and eating bamboo - non-stop, covered with bamboo leftovers! Apparently a panda can go through 40 lbs (~20 kg) of bamboo a day. I love how @ 0:18 it reaches for more bamboo before it hasn't even finished eating what's in its mouth.

So yeah. Overall great day out and well worth a visit if you ever make it to Copenhagen.
