This butterfly is commonly found in large numbers. The color of its wings is light gray or brown. On the upper side of the wings, there are several eye-like circular spots, which help confuse predators. The underside of the wings has a delicate ash-colored coating. The wingspan is generally 40-60 mm. They are usually active on sunny days and fly close to the ground. They prefer to rest on the ground, rocks, or dry leaves and flowers. They feed on the leaves of various plants. They are found in open grassy areas, agricultural fields, gardens, and shrubs. They can typically live in both flatlands and hilly areas. The eye-like spots on their wings confuse predators, helping them defend themselves. They can blend with the color of the ground, which helps them hide from predators. The female butterfly lays eggs on leaves or small plants. From the eggs, caterpillars hatch, then transform into adult butterflies through the pupa stage. Depending on the season, some changes in their color and markings can be observed. In winter, the color of their wings becomes slightly faded.
