Euro (€) is the name given to the official currency of the European Union also known by its abbreviation "EU", this is the currency used by 18 of the 28 members of the EU. This coin came into circulation as of January 1, 1999 replacing the old national currencies of the countries that have used it up to now, of course this measure was exposed and agreed with some time in advance, specifically in the year 1995 and that subsequently It began to rule in order to mint the coins and print the bills that were going to be in circulation in each member country. It is important to note that the introduction of this currency was a historic event because several countries established an agreement to maintain a single currency, something that had never been done before.

When the Euro was introduced in 1999, it became the official currency of 11 member countries, replacing the national currencies of those states such as in France that replaced the French franc or in Germany to the German mark; this currency was introduced virtually for the payments that were not made in cash and especially for accounting purposes, while the old coins were still used for cash payments, considered as divisions of euro. Then on January 1, 2002, the Euro was physically displayed on coins and bills of different denominations.

The countries that have adopted the Euro (€) as official currency are: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Latvia, Estonia and Portugal . Currently around 330 million citizens of the European Union use it as a currency enjoying its advantages, and they are expected to continue increasing as other countries of the EU adopt this currency. On the other hand, countries such as the United Kingdom and Denmark that are members of the EU, choose not to use the Euro, thanks to a clause of "voluntary exclusion" found in the Treaty, exempting them from participation in the use of this.

Euro (€) es nombre que se le otorga a la moneda oficial de la Unión Europea también conocida por su abreviatura “UE”, esta es la moneda que utilizan 18 de los 28 miembros que componen la UE. Esta moneda entro en circulación a partir del 1 de enero de 1999 sustituyendo así las antiguas monedas nacionales de los países que hasta ahora lo utilizan, claro que esta medida fue expuesta y acordada con cierto tiempo de antelación, específicamente en el año 1995 y que posteriormente comenzó a regir con la finalidad de acuñar las monedas e imprimir los billetes que iban a estar en circulación en cada país miembro. Es importante acotar que la introducción de esta moneda fue un acontecimiento histórico debido a que varios países establecieron un acuerdo para mantener una moneda única, cosa que nunca se había hecho.

Al Euro ser introducido en el año 1999, paso a ser la moneda oficial de 11 países miembros, reemplazando las monedas nacionales de dichos estados como por ejemplo en Francia que sustituyo el franco francés o en Alemania al marco alemán; esta moneda se introdujo de manera virtual para los pago que no eran realizados en efectivos y sobretodo con fines contables, mientras que las monedas antiguas se seguían empleando para pagos en efectivo, consideradas como divisiones de euro. Luego el 1 de enero del 2002 el Euro se mostró físicamente en monedas y billetes de diferentes denominaciones.

Los países que han adoptado el Euro (€) como moneda oficial son: Alemania, Austria, Bélgica, Chipre, Eslovaquia, Eslovenia, España, Finlandia, Francia, Grecia, Irlanda, Italia, Luxemburgo, Malta, Países Bajos, Letonia Estonia y Portugal. En la actualidad alrededor de 330 millones de ciudadanos de la Unión Europea lo emplean como moneda disfrutando de sus ventajas, y que se espera que sigan aumentando a medida que otros países de la UE vayan adoptando esta moneda. por otra parte, países como Reino Unido y Dinamarca que son miembros de la UE, optan por no utilizar el Euro, gracias a una cláusula de “exclusión voluntaria” que se encuentra en el Tratado, eximiéndolos de la participación del uso de este.
