An old warrior and some Njala's

They call him "One tooth"and you can see why!
This is the leader and a fierce fighter of a warthog family that we encountered during our stay in the bushveld. Apparently he has regular fights against other prospective leaders. He had his family with him and they were feeding near one of the dams. I will also show you some lovely "Njala" bucks in this post!
Let's go!

Here is a better look at "One tooth"

And here he is with one of his family members. I was hoping they would drink to show you how they kneel down with their front legs folded in a kneeling position backwards beneath them at the water edge, but no luck with the drinking part!

Now for the Njala's

All kitted out in his orange socks this Njala certainly makes a pretty picture!

Njala's are often confused with Kudu's, as there are some similarities, but the horns are a dead give away, as the njala horn has only one twist and a kudu's horns has many twists according to their age! Experts note other differences such as the njala's darker color and the hump etcetera, but you are welcome to Google the differences yourself!

In a separate post I will show you the lovely njala females doing garden services at the lodge on the farm.

One look was all that it took for him to alert the others and they disappeared into the bush!

Although I took the warthog snaps at a fair distance, I managed to get fairly close to the njala's and I simply cannot describe the feeling of elation when the shots are successful. It is also a great feeling to know that I am going to show the Lord's wonderful works to all and sundry. Albert Einstein said that the more he studied science, the more he believed that there was a God and just so it is with biology and nature!
