Snow Day!
We have been waiting a long time for snow where I live in Julian, California. Julian is a very small town east of San Diego. The elevation is about 4,000 feet, so when it gets cold enough and wet enough, we get snow. Because of the drought we are experiencing, winter is very late this year. so even a little snow prompts a photo walk. Here is what I saw early this morning.
The long driveway to the street. That's a lot of shoveling if there's a lot of snow!
The old trailer looks right at home in this scene. The mountain in the background is called Volcan Mountain. I will be writing more about that place later. It's a wilderness preserve.
We live in the top half of this "barn." The view from our kitchen window is Volcan Mountain and this open space. It's easier to see the mountain when the leaves are gone from the trees.
The road to the street and beyond. Volcan Mountain always present, watching over us.
I hope you enjoy the view from my little corner of the world. It's a quiet, pleasant community of people who love Nature and enjoy small-town life. You can catch a view of the historic Main Street from the webcam here: http://www.visitjulian.com/julian-ca-webcam/
