If you've never been to Grand Isle, LA and you're passing through Louisiana take a little detour and head down to Grand Isle. It's home to some of the greatest fishing and Gulf Shrimp in the country and during "Shrimp Season" there's lots of shrimp boats just off the coast. Grand Isle is also home to the oldest fishing rodeo in the United States, the Tarpon Rodeo, which began in 1928. And if you've never heard of pirate Jean Lafitte ... Grand Isle is also home to Fort Livingstong and the Migratory Bird Festival .

Excellent! I get down to Grand Isle quite often. I don't own a camp down there, but it's some of the greatest fishing in the country if you ask me! It's wall to wall people during the Tarpon Rodeo.
