The fisheye is great for capturing a party sense. Come close, no really really get close and capture it all in. I feel that action shots work best. Most of these there made using a flash on camera pointing directly above.

Strange happenings cought on a fisheye look the best, the sense of just being so close. It is an action lens.
I'll repeat myself again, the biggest mistake people do using wideangle or fisheye lenses is not getting close enough with their subject. What you have to make sure is that your subject fills the frame and there is little empty space. This pops out your subject.
Long exposure shots work great with a fisheye. The 8mm focal length allows you to shoot 1/10s shots with very little blur.
Strange angles work pretty well too. Here's a shot from above. Use the 180 degree angle to not have any dead space.

The two lenses I carry with myself are the fisheye and a 50mm. Looking to switch the 50mm to a 30mm. I absolutely love that lens.
