It should be known by now that I am not the biggest fan of insects and or critter who are able to hide and jump at me when I am either in or outside. I scream, jump, run or jump up and down a lot when I spot one too close to me. However, I always find some kind of power inside me to snap a few pictures when I see something amazing. Yes, even spiders are not safe for me when I am hunting critters down for pictures. Most of the time I need a shower when I get back home. Just to make sure they are not hiding somewhere in or on my clothes.

I took a few shots of this amazing grasshopper who seemed to enjoy sitting still and looking into the camera. I am not a photographer so most of the pictures did not turn out really good. Two of them were lucky shots I guess and I am proud of them!

Did you know?

That the grasshopper is a winged insect that belongs to the order of crickets and grasshoppers?

That a grasshopper/locust can jump his own length ten times?

Grasshoppers can hear because they have ears on their legs or back?

Grasshoppers have two antennae, 6 legs, two pairs of wings and small little pinchers to tear off food such as grasses, leaves and cereal crops.

Some species of grasshopper species make noises by either rubbing their back legs against the forewings or body, or by snapping their wings when flying.

Grasshoppers are commonly eaten in African, Central and South American countries, the insect is a very good source of protein.

So much detail on the legs! Really great shots. I know you say you're not a photographer, but have you ever done any macro photography?

Thank you! I took about 10 shots and only these 2 came out really well. I have never done macro. Wish I had a camera for it though because I love the shots they make with macro.
