Melbourne - Dusk

in photography •  6 years ago  (edited)

As Melbourne surrenders into the end of the day...

The city's whole other side awakens.

We see it at first with the passing of the hours, as the sun descends and the city quietly transformed its streets to its night lights. The small sections of the sky's blue seeping away quietly as dusk rises.

Street Lights Awakens

And unnoticed, the staff of various establishments of the evening, restaurants and pubs and clubs alike, came to quiet but busy life. Hospitality employees can be seen in their 'first' duties of the night: cleaning and preparing the venues for the oncoming customers.

Night Shift is Here

Now, with the shroud completely settled, the last of the commuters can be seen traveling home in their strides, quickly trying to make up for lost time, phone at their hand to their loved ones, with some excuses or other stories.

This is Melbourne, at dusk.

I really love this! The only people who see this side of a city are the ones who have to be there - yet it's just as important as any other part.
