Rainbow lorikeets

in photography •  7 years ago

When we moved to our current residence, I planted some native flowering trees to attract native wildlife. A few times a year when the grevillias are flowing we are treated to a colourful display from the local rainbow lorikeets.

They just quietly go about their business retrieving the nectar from the "honey gems".

I noticed some neighbours put our some bowls of feed to attract the birds.

I'm pretty lucky to look out my front window & enjoy the presence of these beautiful birds.

Great post! Take notice of what people are responding to. Its a dialogue and we can learn from each post :)

Thanks Ben - noted. Trying out a few things at the moment, but enjoying the journey. I'm also enjoying the opportunity to look through my past catalogue of work - photos, writings, memories. And it's also a chance to re-learn how to write. Not the usual short handed few words I write between doing something else. It's a great platform.

They really are one of the most delightful birds our country has been graced with, and we have many cool ones. These are something special even amongst all the parrots. Thanks for sharing them.

My pleasure. Yes the cockatoos, galahs, kookaburra, finches - we do have some extraordinarily beautiful birds.

Don't overlook these modest little gentlemen ;)

They are beautiful birds. I just don't appreciate them from a few mm being my head whilst on my bicycle ;-)

Haha. Yeah, they don't seem to like cyclists much.
