Snail feasting on my Moringa tree!!!

Since some days now, I noticed that the leaves of my moringa tree are being devoured by an intruder! But I could not find who it was...

Finally today, while walking around , I found who it was! I caught it red handed!!!

DSC_0133.JPG

Yes, you guessed it right my friends... This is the snail who was having a daily feast on the leaves of my moringa tree!!!
When I saw it today, it was like sleeping but glued to the tender parts/leaves of the tree!

DSC_0109.JPG

Hmmm...I waited for a couple of minutes and finally I saw it waking up and started some amazing movements on the branches!
Despite the damage caused, it made me happy admiring this lovely creature!

DSC_0135.JPG

Did you know that most snails have thousands of microscopic tooth-like structures located on a banded ribbon-like tongue which works like a file, ripping food into small pieces!

DSC_0162.JPG

Despite being known as slow movers, I found it moving rather quickly from branch to branch! Really very nice to watch!

DSC_0145.JPG

This must be a very healthy snail indeed...having eaten such a healthy leaves for nearly one week now!
Healthy snail!!!

DSC_0148.JPG

Finally I broke a branch from the moringa tree and let the snail free in the nature!
I hope it does not come again with some friends this time and devour all the leaves!!!

Oh no! Snails were eating my strawberries this year. Last year, they ate my experimental broccoli plant :-(

Oh that's really sad to hear @playfulfoodie! They can really do so much damage to our crops these snails!
And they always eat the best parts!

Im surprised you didnt eat it :p

Hahaha! I've infact only tasted snails only once in my life! I did not like the texture!
My wife loves them, in soups! It's so famous in Morocco!

Ieh, in soups? That's sounds super weird! I wouldn't want to see a dead snail swimming in my soup hahahaha!

I've tried them once with a on of garlic. Which was probably why I didn't mind the taste. But indeed the structure and the thought of it being a snail really killed it for me!

Bon apetit my friend!!!hahaha!

Ohh no! These snails know the good stuff though. I love fresh moringa. It so good for you too. I hope he doesn't come back!

I really hope so @amy-goodrich! I saw you posting on moringa earlier, I will check it out soon!

Thanks! I surely love moringa trees and I am happy the snails keep away from it.

Thankfully it's not a massive animal like a deer or cow that would have caused much damage to the tree when eating the leaves. The Moringa tree is a wonderful plant of high nutrients!

Oh yes @nawi, thankfully it's only a snail, but still snails can finish all the leaves very quickly!
Being such a high nutrient plant, that's why it attracts such creatures!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

I thought you might have removed Mr. Healthy Snail from the tree and whipped up an escargot with garlic butter (I love snails that way).

Lovely pictures..so vibrant and sharp :)

Hahaha! I would love too @foodie.warrior but unfortunately I really don't have a great liking for snails.
I've prepared a lot with garlic butter and pastis, French style during my time as a chef!
Thanks so much for enjoying my friend!

hehehe could have served a romantic lone snail to your dear @creativewoman then =DD

Well, we all have our own food likes and dislikes..thanks for sharing!! :))

Great pics! the snail is beautiful. It's kind of you to release it back to nature. I was really expecting that snail to wind up on a dinner plate by the end of the post!

Hahahah! Great comments @chefsteve! No infact I don't like snails... or else it would have surely end up in the pan!
