Thibault Roland is a photographer and member of Sony Global Imaging Ambassadors (SGIA). He is originally from France but currently based in Portland OR, USA. He was trained in physics and worked as a researcher at Cornell and Harvard University, where he studied fundamental biological mechanisms using optics and microscopy.
As part of our goal of bringing you more of the amazing photography that our SGIA ambassadors produce, we're taking a look at Thibault's simple but stunning series, 'Isolation'.
Text below by Thibault Roland"My aim for this body of work is to create an entirely new and ethereal world that is up for discovering. This world is pristine, both peaceful and mysterious, and it is a promise for adventures and new beginnings. This work is an open invitation for isolation and reflection, to find one's inner peace of mind.
These images also reflect the state of mind and isolation that I was in when taking them. Even if photography and especially long exposure is for me a highly meditative and personal, almost lonely experience and process, I decided with this series to invite the viewers into my head and personal world, to take the time to do nothing but enjoy the moment, the peacefulness of nature, the feel of the elements that I experienced in the field."
