Flowers to Celebrate Mother's Day/Flores para celebrar el Día de la Madre

I am a little late in getting a post published. I have finally finished a very busy period. I still have appointments but not as many and no deadlines to catch up with my paperwork. The biggest thing I have going over the next couple of months is eye surgery. I see the surgeon on the 17th of this month. I imagine I will have one eye done in June and the other in July. I have put this off for a couple of years. When I had Covid the violent coughing tore the inner visceral of one eye, and when I got it again it happened to the other eye. I am unsure at this time if anything can be done for the tear in each eye. According to my regular eye doctor, it sped up the growth of my cataracts I am now to the point I only put my glasses on when I have to. They do not seem to help. I put them on when driving in case I get pulled over for something.

I am not excited about surgery but I need to be able to see better. I know the surgeon I am going to see. I have taken 2 of the disabled we cared for in for consults and surgery. I also took my wife in to see him when she had both her eyes done.

No me entusiasma la idea de operarme, pero necesito poder ver mejor. Conozco al cirujano al que voy a ver. He llevado a 2 de los discapacitados que cuidamos para consultas y cirugía. También llevé a mi esposa cuando le operaron los dos ojos.

We have had some warmer weather after a rainy period and everything has greened up. It also pushed flowers into bloom, leafed out trees and my fruit trees are in bloom. The last couple of days we have had some rain and cooler weather. I am grateful for spring arriving. I normally enjoy all the seasonal changes, but this year spring seems especially exciting.

Después de un periodo de lluvias, hemos tenido un tiempo más cálido y todo ha empezado a crecer. También ha hecho florecer las flores, los árboles han echado hojas y mis frutales están en flor. Los dos últimos días ha llovido un poco y ha refrescado. Agradezco la llegada de la primavera. Normalmente disfruto de todos los cambios estacionales, pero este año la primavera me parece especialmente emocionante.

I continue to see users publishing just a photo, of a photo or two with very little narrative. As I alluded to last week if you expect to have your work noticed and curated you need to add more to your post. It is difficult enough to get votes that add up to a good earning, even for those of us who have been around for a while.

Sigo viendo usuarios que publican sólo una foto, una o dos fotos, con muy poca narrativa. Como ya dije la semana pasada, si esperas que se fijen en tu trabajo y lo valoren, tienes que añadir algo más a tu publicación. Ya es bastante difícil conseguir votos que sumen una buena ganancia, incluso para los que llevamos tiempo en esto.

Photographs/Fotografías

I have been sharing photographs of pansies on a couple of platforms. I am sure I have shared them here. My cover photo struck me as exceptional and I had to share it. As long as they are blooming, I will take photographs of them. The one above is very cheerful, even on the dreariest days. Enjoy!

The following photograph is a tiny wildflower that I look for every year. I used a plant identifier app (Picture This) on my phone, and it is a "Yellow Avalanche Lilly, a species of Fawn lily." There are two different-looking flowers, but they appear to be the same flower, although the stamens are different colors.

La siguiente fotografía es de una pequeña flor silvestre que busco todos los años. Utilicé una aplicación para identificar plantas (Picture This) en mi teléfono, y es un "Lirio amarillo de avalancha, una especie de lirio cerval". Hay dos flores de aspecto diferente, pero parecen ser la misma flor, aunque los estambres son de distinto color.

The next two photographs are of a daisy. One place referred to them as Common daisies, while another place referred to them as English daisies. No matter what the name they are beautiful. One of them is similar to one I shared last week, but definitely a different photograph. I have planted them in two containers outside the main entrance to my house. Every year for Mother's Day I plant flowers in containers in the same location for my wife. No matter if she has passed away I continue the tradition in her memory.

Las dos fotografías siguientes son de una margarita. En un sitio las llaman margaritas comunes y en otro margaritas inglesas. Sea cual sea el nombre, son preciosas. Una de ellas es parecida a la que compartí la semana pasada, pero sin duda es una fotografía diferente. Las he plantado en dos macetas frente a la entrada principal de mi casa. Todos los años, para el Día de la Madre, planto flores en macetas en el mismo lugar para mi mujer. No importa si ha fallecido, sigo con la tradición en su memoria.

For my last photograph, I am sharing another Pansy. Pansies were a flower my wife and I tried to plant every spring. I usually start them by seed but these last couple of years I purchased plants at a local nursery.

Para mi última fotografía, comparto otro pensamiento. Los pensamientos eran una flor que mi mujer y yo intentábamos plantar cada primavera. Normalmente los cultivo por semillas, pero estos dos últimos años he comprado plantas en un vivero local.

I use a Canon EOS Rebel T5 for most photographs except where noted. I do have an older PowerShot Canon camera that I use from time to time.
