AT 4978 METERS ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE SEA
I had the pleasure of knowing the longest cable car in the world, and I must confess that I was quite nervous and anxious while waiting to board. The cable car is located in the city of Mérida, Mérida State, Venezuela, it is considered the highest and longest in the planet, this cable car has had several modifications, being the current one the most modern; the truth is very beautiful, each station has places to rest and even drink and eat something, each has a different attraction. The cable car began operating in 1960 and joins the city of Merida with the Espejo peak, which is one of the highest with approximately 4700 meters above sea level, in addition to this the route is quite long, about 12 kilometers. It has 5 stations:
The Barinitas station
The Mountain Station
La Aguada station
The Loma Redonda station
the Pico Espejo station
Nowadays, the re-inauguration of the cable car gave it a new name and is known as Mukumbari Cable Car, the truth is worth knowing and the rates are quite cheap. First one arrives at the station where he waits a little for his turn to board, if it is tourist season it always takes a little longer for the influx of people, when you see yourself inside these cabins, completely sealed and with transparent glass to appreciate from the wonderful view that the Sierra Nevada Park offers you.
As you ascend you can see the diversity that exists in the area and the more you climb, you can notice how the vegetation begins to change, everything begins to cloud because of the cold so tasty that there is and you begin to see cloudy forest vegetation or Andean paramo and the altitude is notorious because the so-called "Frailejones" begin to appear. The vegetation begins to change and you see beautiful flowers and trees that have a silvery rain above known as: Yagrumo tree which is exclusive of cloud forests or cloud forests. (His name in English is trumpet tree.) And it seems that the mountain was covered with a sea of gray hair, it really is very beautiful.
A JOURNEY FULL OF LANDSCAPES
The route is really a unique feeling, since from the cabins on one side you can see the city of Merida and on the other all the wonder and splendor of the Sierra Nevada Park, like beautiful waterfalls in the distance or even imposing lagoons.
First you get to the last station, the "Pico Espejo" at 4760 meters above sea level, a unique feeling, in addition to the station has spectacular viewpoints, always keep in mind not to walk fast, stay warm and Take some hot drink to protect from the cold and height. Then you go down to the other stations, where they provide hiking services, ride horses, food, coffee, etc. I took advantage of it and wanted to do some hiking, there we were taken near some lagoons known as: "La negra" and "La colorada" in this season enjoy a lot, I saw incredible vegetation, animals, and a wonderful landscape that I will always remember and I want to go back when I can.
Also enjoy a delicious lunch at a well-known Café in the place, the truth is quite good and served to recharge and continue the adventure. The truth is an absolutely familiar and tourist environment, one of the natural wonders of Venezuela, and also a construction that enhances engineering completely, a place to be proud, which we must take care of and keep just like this, something that I found very It is good that in the hiking tour the guide, very nice explains why you can not get to the lagoon and it is for the protection of wetlands that are around it, it is great to have people explain this to many people who Ignorance they do not know and could end up damaging the ecosystem, very good this, the talk and the desire to preserve the ecosystems of the area.
I MISSED OBSERVING THESE BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS ♥
You go down and you have more walkways and places to have a good time, in the last station we came across a restaurant and bar with a beautiful viewpoint and an incredible view, where I really tried the most delicious cocktail I've ever tasted, it was called "Angel" and it was a delicacy, I really do not forget that flavor because it was like eating a parchita cake, very very good.
I invite you if you ever come to Venezuela or if you are from this country to know the longest cable car in the world, a construction that is proud and made with the purest engineering, architecture and love; located in a magical place full of green landscapes and the richest and cozy cold.
Wow! What an amazing adventure ^_^
