Making unsplash even better with a handy chrome extension!

Many of you content creators will have heard of Unsplash - and if you haven't, you should really check it out - it's a great resource for finding great quality, free photos. The photos can be used without attribution in both commercial and non-commercial products, so it's a really great way to enhance otherwise visually dull posts (such as this one!).

The fact that the photos are provided at such high quality is both a blessing and a curse, though - oftentimes you'll want to download an image for use on the web, when 4000x4000 pixels would be overkill, and a 4mb file is less than ideal, and manually resizing can quickly become quite arduous.

But fear not! You're life's about to get a tiny bit easier! Today I published the first version of my unsplash image downloader chrome extension which lets you specify an image size to download, doing all the hard work for you!

To use it:

• Install the extension from the Chrome web store
• Navigate to an image on unsplash (the extension works on any url that looks like https://unsplash.com/photos/[id])
• The extension's icon should now have lit up - click it, enter the width and height (in pixels), then hit download!
  • When you use the extension next time, the size you entered previously will be remembered.
