Surrealist places to visit around the world: PAMUKKALE

I consider myself as an adventure man, one of my future goals is traveling around the world visiting different kind of places. The world has an unbelieveble variety of landscapes that make you feel motivated to just get the money and start your road.

If you ask me right now, what place i would visit at least once in a lifetime, that definitely has to be Pamukkale. Its a curious place, looks like ice cape but in Turkey the weather is not so cold to say.

At southwestern of Turkey, particularly in the valley of the Menderes River ,in the province of Denizli, where you can enjoy a temperate weather almost all the year, is Pamukkale , a natural area, which is at the same time a famous tourist attraction.

The ancient city of Hierapolis was built on top of the white castle, which in total is 2700 m long and 160 m high. It can be spotted from a great distance, for example, if we are driving through the hills on the opposite side of the valley to the city of Denizli, which is 20 km, or traveling from the coast of Antalya and the Aegean Sea.

The tectonic movements that took place in the fault depression of the Menderes river basin not only caused frequent earthquakes but also led to the emergence of numerous hot springs. Were those waters, with its high mineral content that created Pamukkale.

This natural phenomenon produces thick white layers of limestone and travertine as waterfalls down the mountainside, giving the feeling of being in a frozen waterfall. These formations also take on the appearance of travertine terraces crescent-shaped containing a layer of shallow water arranged in the upper third of the slope forming steps, ranging from 1 to 6 meters high, or stalactites that hold and connect these terraces.

Among the oldest rocks you can find crystalline marbles, quartzites and schists, dating from the Pliocene period, while the top layer is the Quaternary era. The most recent deposits of calcium carbonate gives the place a dazzling white appearance.

Along with Hierapolis, Pamukkale, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988. Only a few places in the world seem like this, Mammoth hot springs in Yellowstone National Park is one of them, wich is also great.

Is really curious how nature works around us.
