First, my thoughts!
...on steemit, steemians and photography
Before getting into the Lapland scenery, I want to share with you some thoughts of mine.
I've noticed many people post pictures on Steemit that are not their own.
It is easy to google up beautiful pictures and post them here in hopes of claiming some value in cryptocurrency... I find that despicable. Many times it is not clear whether the pictures people post are their own or stolen from the internet. I find that misleading and it discourages me to vote for them...
So I decided to mark my photos with my logo to further demonstrate that I only post photographs taken by me, or by my wife.
Some people also post only one picture per post... I try to avoid that, because it is easily boring. (Unless it is something special of which I only have one picture.)
We do not have the best camera gear (yet) to take professional quality pictures, but we are saving money towards that. To make up for the lack of professional quality, I want to share the feeling and atmosphere with you. I believe that can be achieved by posting multiple photographs of the same scene or location along with some story. I hope to develop my skill in writing (and English) so I could better share these experiences.
And now... Lapland!
Photographs from Pyhä Luosto, a national park in Lapland, Finland.
This place has an amethyst mine, and you can actually find amethysts within the national park if you get really really lucky.
Some rocks high up in the mountains are actually pieces of some ancient seabed. You can see the small sand dune patterns on them, and there are actually some stories about the ancient (read: dinosaur age) seas written in the signs along the paths.
The weather was misty and cloudy even though it was around 0 degrees Celsius.
These pictures are from high up in the mountain called Witchmountain which is one of the mountains in Luosto. It was a really beautiful weather up there in mountain... we almost got lost in the mist!
The geology of this place is amazing. You can find not only amethysts and ancient seabed rocks, but you can find garnets and jasper and many other gemstones all around. ...well, you gotta know where to look and what they look like in crude form...
and it is actually forbidden to take anything from the national park. But still... you know, amazing. :)
Beautiful dead trees and at last a more artistic picture of a frozen bond and the plants trapped within. Look deeply into this last photo and find the meaning... Dead plants trapped under the ice and a rock that has teared a hole in the ice to free them from their prison... but too late. Heh...
Thank you for viewing!
