Golconda fort is a must visit in Hyderabad. It has a great history and is situated in the western outskirts 11 km far away from the main city centre.
Golconda is a telugu word which means "Shepherd's Hill". This fort has seen many ups and down in its life and it was ruled by many dynasties many dynasties like Yadava Dynasty, Kakatiya Dynasty, Bahmani Dynasty, Qutb Shahis and Mughal Dynasty.
Its construction started in 13 century by the Kakatiya rulers and it was built with mud at that time but when Qutb Shahis took over this fort, it was re-built with granite and took approximately 62 years to complete.
In the end of its life it was taken over by Mughals and the fort was brought to ruins.
The boundary was of this fort is about 120 meters and 10 km in lenght. This fort also has a tree which is 800 years old and a great attraction to tourists.
