Sambar In The Woods.

The sambar is one of the larger animals of the deer family. Now this guy is native to the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and parts of Southern China.

I found this big guy by surprise as I was moving out of the Raja National Park, Haridwar area, in the evening.
(The park is located in Uttrakhand, India, where it covers a large part of the state.)

Now as I was saying, this one caught me by surprise. Just as I was about to leave the woods, this guy came out of nowhere and just stood so calmly and majestically in front of me that I had to take a photo, no matter how bloody tired I was.

I was lucky enough to have a low aperture lens on me at that time as it was around 5 and the sun was almost down.
It was one great experience. I'll upload some more photos soon.
