Port Covington Walk -->Photos<--

in photography •  7 years ago

Port Covington is a large area in South Baltimore that is abandoned. I had heard about the planned development there but I had to look it up on Google maps to find out where it was. It is somewhat amazing that I could live in Baltimore for 15+ years and not be aware of Port Covington, but then as there is nothing there and no reason to visit it, perhaps it is not surprising.

I am always looking for new neighborhoods to walk around and take pictures. I am a psychogeographer and founder of The International Psychogeography Institute. Psychogeographers perform experiments called dérives: a psychogeographical term for spontaneous exploration of urban landscapes guided by aesthetic instinct.

I record my dérives by taking photos as I walk through the landscape. These are photos taken during the Port Covington dérive on August 5, 2016.
