Vaporwave-Inspired Photography: 1970s mall in Chiang Mai, Thailand (playlist included!)

Now that everyone's flying through the neon future, it's finally a good time for me to share some old photos that I took in Kad Suan Keaw, Chiang Mai's first shopping mall. It was built back in the 70s when Huay Keaw Road was the place to be. Nimman has since taken over that role, but this place continues to charm visitors. Living nearby for two years, I still only explored half of it.

For the sake of   T A S T E , I edited these heavily. Most of the photos were already quite abstract since I took them through windows to capture reflections. Some of these shots were from a couple other locations in Chiang Mai.

I stayed up until 3am last night putting this vaporwave-inspired playlist together. It's complimentary to your viewing.

The following two were hardly edited at all. This is the center of the mall. Sometimes they hold special events inside. I came here once to meditate but there was a canopy of black umbrellas and a stage in the way; probably a commemoration for the king or his father, who recently passed away and left the entire country in black and white mourning.

(Can you find Godzilla?)

Thanks for taking a look. Your patronage keeps me fed and I love doing this. Here's to the new economy!
