Playing With The Camera: The Mantis Concert

in photography •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hey there, guys! It seems that my connection issue has been resolved and I am back again! Fingers crossed bad luck has got bored of me and will leave me alone, because this past week she had been bugging me for good!

Here I am, λοιπόν, your very own wacko insect paparazzi! And you know what I got for you this time? No? Didn't you read the title above? A mantis concert! If you want a rhythm for this post, put this on and you'll soon understand why 😉

Meet our famous superstar musician, songwriter, singer, dancer, full-time performer...

The multitalented!

The one and only!

The huuuuuge!

Baby Mantis!

He will make you greener than his skin with envy once you hear him sing.

And oh! Wait until he plays that flute!

All eyes on our music Titan please!

And now give your biggest applause 'cause he is already on stage!

Let the show begin!

"Despacito,

I'm a baby mantis, follow el mi ritmo.

Get up on your feet don't be a lazy rino,

Come on dance along with me the loco niñoooo.

Despacito..."

And here comes the flute bridge part!

This guy is a pro!

Everyone wants to play like him some day!

(Ok, with some extra stretching practice... We're taking up Yoga next thing tomorrow!)

And after an amazing performance...

The show is over!

Give him another, even bigger applause, ladies and gentlemen!

And don't let your eyes off him as he climbs down the stage.

What do you mean you lost him?

There he is!

I'm right behind him.

Don't forget, I am an insect paparazzi...

My camera will follow him even backstage.

And here, ladies and gentlemen, we have some last shots in the restricted area.

Glance him once last time,

Before our great artist retracts into his dressing room!

Another great show is over, another audience is hypnotized by his talent!

Another crazy photo-post is done!

Hope you liked this one, guys! Have a great weekend! 😁

This tiny fragile fellow landed on our picnic table last Monday (if you remember I visited Lake Kerkini and Ano Poroia in Serres, as I shared on my "Last school trip of the year" post). A co-worker screamed, "Hey, Ruth! Look! Look!" and I immediately grabbed my camera and took as many shots as I could before our visitor vanished hopping away.

PS: Follow the link to a hilarious Greek Despacito parody in case you're interested 😜

Welcome to Comedy Open Mic. Great to see you putting in entries.

Can you please nominate two people to participate in the contest? Would help us out a lot.

Thanks.

Thank you! I have seen entries from people I follow in the past and thought I should give it a try myself.

PS: I have edited my post and called for two people to join! :D

He’s clearly a talented insect, a bit green, but he’ll strike it big one day! Cute COM 17 entry. :)

Hehe! Thanks! That green little man will become huge one day, mark my words :P

The first few images I really thought this was something computer generated... so unreal the matching shades of green and superb posing by the "model"...

Love the silly story you told and that Cello version of that shitty annoying song is quite amazing actually :D

P.S.: I had it playing in the background before, seeing those dudes spasm about with their instruments just added a whole new level of fun to it, too... thanks for making me choke on my lunch

Hehe! The natural light was perfect, so I slightly enhanced the pictures on my computer. There is nothing more than some light and contrast retouching and I only used filters for 2 pics, just to have some variation ;)

The 2 cellos dudes are amazing! They completely change the mood of familiar songs. They can even make a silly one sound a lot more "classy" :P

Thanks a lot for watching the "show" and taking the time to leave such a beautiful comment!
Only next time, avoid eating while reading :P

Or, like in this case, they can make a really annoying deadbeat song sound silly and fun again :P

I'll keep your recommendation in mind and I'll try to avoid bringing food items to your blog, next time.

My goodness, that is the tiniest mantis I have ever seen and of course smaller does mean more adorable and he is. That green! Great shots and glad your 'bad luck' has subsided. I think it visited me last week when I broke my toe :/ Darn bad luck, he's a bad house guest.

Thank you!! It is super cute! Too bad it can move fast and soon got away before I manage to take 100 shots :P

Well, there is a saying: "Good luck knocks on your door once, bad luck is a lot more patient" which means no, it hasn't left me, today I just found out that my camera battery died. I need to take it back to the store tomorrow :(
Do you think exorcism would help? :P

Lol.. Surely, thus mantis has a lot of talent, in fact, I prefer it's despacito cover to that of Luis fonsi.. Smiles.. Paparazzi (i.e you @ruth-girl), can you get it to sign an autograph for me?

Here! Here! He just signed one just for you! :)

Hehehe... Am honored little mantis.

Thanks @ruth-girl..

I LOVE those baby preying mantis! While in Greece we were playing with one at Plaka. Although, I have to admit I thought it was something nasty and I was going to squish it :(
LUCKILY, it dropped onto MichealX's food and he recognized what it was PHEW!!

Ooh! That was close. We believe it is very bad luck to kill one you know. In Greece we call them the Holy Mother's horses (I don't remember how this came up)

Agh! yes, that WAS close! :)

λοιπόν? Lol. Maybe we can use some translations 😀

Meanwhile, some insects people would be so jealous of the mantis. I mean, it's like a celeb mantis 😂

λοιπόν means "well/so"

Oh! This is a celeb mantis! He is very popular in the insect world :P

Awesome! Is there no video footage??

No! :(
Some stupid co-worker shook the table and the mantis disappeared :'(

I hate stupid coworkers :/ awesome photos and story nonetheless (:

το νέο κατοικίδιο σου είναι;

Όχι! Δεν τον παίρνω σπίτι, θα τον φάει η γάτα :Ρ

I'd gladly be an insect paparazzi, the good news is that no insect can punch you in the face :)

They can't punch, but they can pinch and sting :P
At least this guy was harmless :)

Oh yeah, you've got a gentleman to photograph :)

baby mantis or baby killer? :p the analysis of the camera rules!

Baby superstar! :P

I am still trying out different things to see what works best for clear and detailed pictures, but the truth is with good lighting, photos come out very clear! :)

shh don't tell all the secrets for free :P

Hi @ruth-girl! Wow, I guess the joining of the insect in your picnic added some real fun there. ;)
I think the snacks and fooding items were really delicious from which the insect was unable to keep itself away from joining you in the picnic! :)

It is really a very good read! Specially, I liked the way you started and the pictures you put in here to express those living moments:

Wishing you a very good day ahead! :)

Hello dear @star-vc!! Well, that little guy landed on our table before we even got our food out. I believe he was just wandering around... He is adorable, isn't he?

Have a great weekend! :D

He is very adorable but I guess not as much as you!! ;)

Aaaw! Thank you! ^_^

Most welcome!! :)
