The Snail Stalker

in photography •  6 years ago  (edited)

Hey guys! As you know my new hobby is to bombard you with my experimental photography posts from time to time. This story is about me stalking on a snail that I came across in the garden the other day!

You cannot believe how much life you can find within a few cubic meters in a garden during a lazy evening. From ants and spiders, to snails and grasshoppers, the garden is a busy place and the perfect spot for a clueless  paparazzi like me :P

Check out this little guy!

So transparent and delicate...

Crawling carefree in the grass.

Looking up to admire the bright yellow of the wild flowers...

And then down to pick a leaf to munch on...

Oh! This place is full of dandelions!

All round, white and puffy...

Though some of them are half blown apart.

That's ok.

Our little guy is here to explore.

And as long as he doesn't know I'm there...

He doesn't get any scared.

He crawls...

And crawls...

And up he goes...

"Hmm, these things are not so tasty

I shouldn't 've been so hasty

And climb up all this way

I'd rather order take away"

Oh! I even got him on video! Listen to all the sounds of the village garden, try to feel the cool, evening air on your skin and getting in you through your nostrils. Get lost in the greenery of the place and just relax... Let all your stresses go. Forget all about your job and deadlines and annoying colleagues and tasks and, and, and...

For a moment, just be one with this little fellow. Try to shrink yourself and jump into his world. You'll certainly feel a lot better after that...

I am becoming obsessed with my new toy! And even more with my new "models"! It turns out that camera was one of the best things I have ever bought! And all this thanks to Steemit! If it hadn't been for this place, I would never had got the chance to save such a lot of money and buy one myself. It is amazing what this platform can do for you and it is even more amazing that blogging about your interests and having fun and meeting people can actually gift you things your real life job would never do...

Once again, THANK YOU Steemit!

And thank all of you people who have been with me so long and put up with me!

Until my next post,
Steem on and keep smiling, people!

Entertaining post as always. Some of the clearest images I have seen on Steemit ( although I don't usually follow the photography tag)

Thanks a lot for stopping by!! I'm glad you liked this! :D

I love this series of yours. The imagery and photography are great. The videos and especially the sounds (as you pointed out) are relaxing... :)

Looking forward to more follow up on the snail’s life... and death. (Tsigariasto or boubouristo please)

Thank you! This really helps me relax and rest, even when my grandma keeps making fun of me when she sees me with the camera kneeling on the grass

@ruth-girl mi mou peis oti den exeis dokimasei? Un-πιστέψ-able...

Νομίζω ότι μπορεί να έχει Cochleahphobia (fear of snails)....🤣

Xoxliofobia tha exei sigoura!!

Μα νέβερ όμως :P

Giatiiii??? Sigoura ta mageireuei h giagia...

Όχι!

Lolz.....Concentrated Slime? Now I get why you avoid it. There are ways to prepare it and wash it thoroughly though to remove the slimy properties it has. But then, I guess that would still not convince you.

Γουγλε τρανσλέισον? Go figure this out :P

And no, I am not afraid of snails, I even like these shiny boogers. I just don't want to eat them!

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Lolz......Google translation

Well, "not wanting to eat them" doesn't really say a lot, about why you avoid the delicacy. Perhaps, you haven't seen it prepared in a way that would be so appealing to you, that you'd fall into the temptation of eating it.

🐌🍳🍽

Πολύ νόστιμο και νόστιμο.

@hrissm, you must be my specie as well (a lover of meaty and fleshy parts). I am eagerly awaiting the same tale, buddy. I hope @ruth-girl would oblige us with the tale of the snail's life journey from the cradle to the pot though....Lolz

Whenever I go to Greece I look forward to a snail dish. My aunts are great cooks (and they know that I like ‘em — and all food) so I’m usually never disappointed!!

Yea, they can be really garnished and prepared in various forms...... Whether it is cooked in soup, fried dry, grilled to be crunchy....in so many sweet tasting recipe's that @ruth-girl is obviously missing.

Great photos, I really enjoyed them. Snails are cute they kind of remind me of a character from the movie "Flight of the Navigator"

I am hoping to get my new camera as well soon so I can take as lovely of photos as you have with your new camera.

Thank you! I wish you get your camera soon and have fun with it! :)

Beautiful pictures. Take away is always a good idea :)

Plus, it is great to know that we are not the only ones that use take away instead of take out

Thanks for sharing.

Lol! Hehe, thanks for dropping by!! :)

Great photos. Have you given Mr. Snail a name yet?

What model agency represents him?

Thanks!! No, no name yet. And no agent for the time being. This snail didn't seem much interested in modelling :P

I even got him on video!

How did you know it is a "he"? :p
Is this the same snail from the other post? The one that @rickie called "Mr Anthony"? :)

That's another snail I found next to the one I had on video the other day. He is just for the sake of the story, I didn't turn it upside down to "check" ahahahaha! And I doubt that's Mr Anthony, some distant cousin maybe :P

Snails are just some creatures i find very interesting to study.
Really finding it difficult to differentiate between the male and the female. How do they mate or reproduce??

All animals have facts to fascinate you.
More info on snails is coming in another stem-post :P

You (s)nailed that post :D

Hehe! Thanks ow-lot :P

Snaiiil! Looks cute! Oh you know I have that urge to want to move the camera to see how it's eating. Hahaha.

Btw got a question, are we supposed to submit steemSTEM posts for curation or should we expect it to be found once we post them? I'm afraid to post any more for fear of not being found. Hahaha.

Yes! It is a sweet little creature!

For any questions regarding steemstem you can always find our mentors on the steemstem discord server :)

It looks like a big snail... I only know and see really tiny ones.

Hmmm who are the ones still in steem chat?

No, it was quite small, it looks big because of the zoom in :P

Just ask for them in the general chat and someone will get you, don't worry :)

Oh I see. Great! Thanks!
