Rock Pools

This is just some photos that I put together of some pools on the rocks at Jongensfontein. The water is so clear in some of the photos, that one cannot even see the water, but all the photos are of pools on the rocks. Some of them have some amazing colors in them. Below you can see some sea urchins and a crab hiding in a crack. Do you spot the crab?

Below is a closer photo of the crab in his hiding place!

Below you can see some more sea urchins and a few shells lying in the water, there is also a sea snail in the top of the picture.

The pool below had a lot of sea weeds growing in it.

In the bottom left corner you can see a small starfish taking a slow ride on a sea snail!!

I love to walk on the rocks, looking into the pools to see what is in them, they never disappoints as there are always something to see in them.

I took the photos during my resent vacation at Jongensfontein, Western Province, South Africa by me using my iPhone.

I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Unbelievable how clear the water is. I guess the salt may have something to do with it, because I rarely see fresh water sources that are this clear. Even the water we drink is not like this...nice crabbie...

Very interesting. If I were there I'd surely take photos like this. That looks like a good place for macro photography.

No, here in South Africa, I have not seen people eating them. I saw a post the other day where somebody (cannot remember who) did eat them. Have you eaten them?
