Moss-rose purslane,also known as Portulaca grandiflora, is a succulent annual flowering plant that is native to South America but is now widely cultivated in many parts of the world as an ornamental plant.It is called moss-rose because of its dense,moss-like foliage and purslane because of its similarity in appearance to the common garden weed, purslane.Moss-rose purslane typically grows up to 6 inches tall and spreads up to 18 inches wide. It produces bright,showy flowers in a range of colors including red, pink, yellow, orange, and white. The flowers only open in bright sunlight and close at night or during cloudy weather.Moss-rose purslane is a low-maintenance plant that thrives in hot, dry conditions and is often used in rock gardens, borders, and container gardens.
