Historic Downtown Truckee, During A Snow Storm (3 photos shot last night)

in photography •  7 years ago  (edited)

It was dumping big fat snowflakes at my house yesterday evening, I was in a creative mood, so I grabbed my camera and headed into town for some photography fun.

These were shot last night around 10pm. Shooting in big snowstorms like this can be tricky, I kept the camera wrapped in a rag most of the time and I had to wipe snow off the lens between every few shots. The local warm bars and their cold beers were tempting, but I had work to do...

Yes, I've posted other Downtown Truckee photos recently, I wanted to update the Truckee, Californiastock photos available on my website so I have been busy down there. I had gotten the daytime shots and the predawn shots, finally I got some nice night time shots. These type of photos often do well for me as local businesses like to license them and use them to help market the fact that they are located in an incredibly beautiful area.

So, do you have a favorite of the three photos?

And would you have kept shooting in these conditions or would you have saddled up at the bar and watched the show from inside?

Also, in case you missed it, I'm a judge for @shadalene's #waterwednesday photo contest today. Please join me in the fun there: https://steemit.com/naturephotocontest/@shadalene/water-wednesday-nature-photo-contest-is-open

First photo is for sure my favorite. Puts me in the Christmas mood honestly...even though it is actually March lol.

Thank you @snrm! This town is incredible during the Christmas holiday, it can feel like a ginger bread house town... When we get a big snowy March after a relatively dry winter, we call it a "Miracle March", and it definitely has been that.

I like the first pic the best as well. You get a better sense of the town -- or at least that street -- from it.
