We have enjoyed several sunny, crisp days, with highs in the low 40s and morning lows in the 20s. Each day a fresh blanket of hoarfrost decorates the entire yard with its tiny patterns on each leaf and blade of grass. Once the sun touches the frost, it disappears. Sometimes the area looks more like a patchwork quilt, with hoarfrost-bedecked grass in the shady spots and plain wet grass in the sunshine. Some of our grass is remarkably green, some of it is dried up and brown or yellow, and a great deal of it is covered with yellow larch needles. At least our yard remains colorful until the snow arrives!
