On a drizzly June day I took a photo of Lake Pend Oreille and posted it, with a promise to take more photos on a sunny summer day. Yesterday was warm, breezy, and generally irresistible so I drove the few miles over there and walked around with my camera ready.
As usual, there were a few sailboats out on the lake, plus motorboats, kayaks, and jet skis.
The hiking path near the shore offers many glimpses of the lake between the trees. The aroma of warm pine needles was heavenly!
Sometimes the path almost feels like an airy, sunny tunnel. I love the effect of the dappled sunshine on the earth.
This is a manmade swimming area, but the water is supplied by the very deep lake so it tends to be quite chilly. Today, however, after a very warm summer, it was so pleasant! I wished I had brought my bathing suit along.
