Discovering Mallorca - "La Seu", Cathedral de Palma

Greetings Steemians

The last time I was visiting Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands, was in 2006. A long time ago for me and yet not even a blink of the eye for one of Mallorca's main attractions, the Cathedral de Palma. Back in these days my photographic companion was a Canon IXUS 75. At the time a decent compact camera, but by far not up to today's standard of even a smart phone camera.

Despite these compromises regarding the image quality, I thought the following pictures were still worth to be shown. Particularly, I wanted to show you the moment, when the early morning sun sets through the cathedral's stained east window just to plunge the entire interior into a glistening spectacle of colours. An enchanting event that lasts not longer than an hour.

I remember as if it was yesterday that I enjoyed bathing in the different shades of colour, simply by changing my position on the church bench from red to yellow to green and so on.

But see for yourself:

A splendour of colours that has been welcoming and captivating morning visitors for centuries.

Thanks for watching and 'til next time!

Hello shaka, fortunate that you could live that experience because according to its inhabitants one of the curiosities is: The spectacle of the Eight. I could investigate that it has many curiosities, the main attraction that I read is that:
At certain times of the year, inside the "Seu" you can enjoy a spectacular light phenomenon. Specifically, it takes place twice a year (on 2 February and 11 November), coinciding with the festival of Candelaria and San Martín, respectively. On those days, sunlight passes through the main rose window and its reflection is projected onto the wall in front, so that, for a short period of time, one is reflected on top of the other, forming a double rose window: one made of glass and the other of light. In addition to having many stories enclosed in that cathedral, I think it is one of the largest and is the heritage of humanity through Unesco, its Gothic structure makes us ride on the machine of time and dream of seeing this spectacular beauty, so thank you very much for sharing this publication so sublime @shaka.

Thank you for this information, I didn't know about this fascinating event. It must be an impressive spectacle.

I think much depends on lights. When there is enough sunlight photos are always nice. No matter how ordinary a camera is. Many cameras can't take good photos in low light conditions. Also, much depends on the photographer. An experienced photographer can take nice photos with an ordinary camera. Your photos are remarkably good, despite of using an ordinary camera ( as per the standard of this time).
Your works inspire me . Keep it up dear @shaka.

Thank you!

Wow, this is a fascinatin piece of architecture. I have seen quite a lot of churches but none of them was similar to this... Very impressive.

Great shots. Especially the cover image. 😊

Auf die Lieblingsinsel der Deutschen habe ich es noch nie geschafft. Die Bilder, die Du uns hier zeigst, weichen völlig von denen ab, die man sonnst so kennt und sieht... . Ich denke, Du weißt schon, was gemeint ist. ;-)

What an impressive structure @shaka! These old architectural masterpieces always intrigue me.

Yes, I am also impressed every time about what was achieved in the construction of these kind of monuments.

These photographs are a visual spectacle, both those taken in front of and inside the cathedral.
Thanks for sharing.

I love 'La Seu' :) i didnt want to leave it when i visited Mallorca this year in June. I hope i will come back there soon :) PS. Cool pics!

I hope I can make it back there soon again too! It's wonderful over there indeed!

Friend shaka you are definitely lucky to be able to enjoy so many beautiful places, although many years ago this place must be one of your most precious memories, the structure is imposing, the stained glass perfectly located, I can feel even the peace of the place. Regards!

Black white balance is very nice. I like your perspective. Congrats @shaka

Gute Fotos, obwohl er sagt, dass die Auflösung seines Partners nicht so gut war, kann ich mit großer Aufrichtigkeit sagen, dass das fotografische Ergebnis wunderbar ist.
Ich habe sie sehr gut gefallen!
