Hello Steemlings
Happy Friday.. it's almost the weekend and for once I don't think we have any mad running around to do! (If you don't count Bootcamp, Yoga and Sunday morning ramp runs)
Every now and then, @cryptoandzen and I like to leave our little bit of paradise and make the trek into the city and pretend to be tourists for the day. It's actually pretty cool to sit back and look at your city through the eyes of a visitor - doing the things you probably wouldn't normally do at home - but would certainly do if you'd traveled a few thousand kilometres.
One thing I did do differently from my normal tourist jaunts though, was to not take all my camera gear with me. It was just a time for exploring the city with my trusty Samsung Galaxy and a very patient @cryptoandzen.
The Sydney Harbour Bridge
There is no doubt this is one of the most iconic images, not just of Sydney but of Australia itself. Who doesn't recognise the "coathanger" as it is nicknamed with a view of the Opera House in the back ground.
The official ceremony to mark the "turning of the first sod" occurred on 28 July 1923 and was formally opened on Saturday, 19 March 1932.
It's great to explore around the bridge and capture it from many different views.

From Circular Quay with the Manly Ferry coming in to dock.
In the immortal words of James Reyne - and one of my favourite Aussie songs
"Meet me down by the jetty landing,
Where the the pontoons bump and sway,
I see the others reading, standing,
As the Manly Ferry cuts its way to Circular Quay"
(Reckless - Australian Crawl, 1983)

From the top of the ferris wheel at Luna Park
Hop in a carriage and hold your breath as you float up to 40 metres above the Harbour, enjoying the view of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House and Luna Park Sydney.

From the pontoon at Pirrama Park
Pirrama Park honours the first Australians who lived in the area. It means ‘rocking stone’ in the Gadigal language. The Australian Institute of Landscape Architecture awarded Pirrama Park for its stunning design in 2012. Not visible in this photo but the perfectly landscaped site includes grasslands, wide avenues, a playground, cafe, public toilets as well as picturesque spots for barbecues and picnics.

From Hickson Reserve
Take a walk along the foreshore under the Harbour Bridge. Hickson Road Reserve is the most popular of all the foreshore areas for filming and photography with its extensive views of Sydney Harbour, the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

From a sailing boat on the harbour
Get a unique view from under the bridge by hopping out on a yacht. A lot of the yacht clubs around Sydney Harbour actually offer free sailing if you want to give crewing a try. It's fun and a great experience. I've crewed 36 footers a couple of times now and it is a blast. If I could afford it, it would definitely be a sport to take up!

From The Sydney Theatre Company at Walsh Bay
And of course nothing like ending the afternoon at the Sydney Theatre Company with a gorgeous bar at the end of the wharf and great views of the harbour - glass of bubbles optional :)
Hope you enjoyed these different views of our famous bridge.
