Last weekend, a few of us from the @thewritersblock meetup in Gatlinburg, TN, decided to go to Cade's Cove in the Smokey Mountain National Park. After driving over half way through and seeing some horses, turkeys, and a couple of bears that were too far away to get pictures of, we lucked into this fellow 'popping' out on a bank above us. Thinking he would continue along the bank and into the field, which would have left us with no opportunity for a good photo, my fellow bear "hunters" and I (@Rhondak, @gmuxx, @sircork, @enginewitty, @jayna, @catherine813, and @Abigale) got a pleasant surprise. With no warning, this bear decided that this was the perfect place to cross the road. After checking out the traffic situation (picture below) he crossed behind us into a field of Blackberries where we lost sight of him, leaving us with a few pictures and a great memory of a little-too-close-for-comfort bear spotting.

Wow! Nice shot! That bear is like, "Should I mess with them? Nah, they think I'm magnificent. I'll just continue on my way." ;)

This day was epic. I'll never forget you jumping out of the car going after this guy. :-)
