How I got the shot - 3

I love this series, as a newbie photographer years ago I used to see images where I just loved the angle. At the time I couldn't imagine getting some crazy angle on a wedding day. I was always too worried about getting the safe stuff. With weddings we don't really have the option of trying something crazy and then saying to a couple 'sorry dudes, that one didn't quite work so I missed your [INSERT CRUCIAL WEDDING DAY MOMENT]'

As my career has progressed I've developed a rhythm that most long term professionals seem to develop. Methods and patters of getting shots that we know will work and look great. It might not be exciting or stimulating to us as professionals, but part of being paid for photography is getting the shots the clients want!

Once you find your rhythm you get to experiment, and try different angles!

This one is probably pretty obvious in terms of HOW I got it. But sometimes it's a case of just being ready willing and able to get on your knees/belly in the mud and rain in your nice suit!

Incidentally THIS is why I'm no longer allowed expensive suits!

Love it.

Ive shot a couple of weddings and a quite a few wedding foe video. Ita a high pressure environment and wedding shooters, good ones, are worth their weight in gold.

One thing that couples dont realise when the cheap out is that this is the everlasting memory of their big day they're paying for.

Regardless of how much rhey pay for their wedding, its the wedding shooters that make the history.

Great shot and kudos to you for lookong for the special when the meat and two veg will always suffice.

Haha tell me about it! I think everyone realises the importance AFTER the wedding, but I learned years ago that if someone is planning on going for a cheap photographer then nobody will convince them of the value of a good photographer!

Thanks :) It definitely helps working as a team, it gives us the freedom to experiment a little more!

I filmed a wedding once, it rained for most of it, the wedding party argued and the lasting impression from the couple was one of doom and gloom.

With some clever use of b roll, seceltive shots and a good creative edit, I gave them a happy, sunny upbeat film of their day which, when the saw it, changed completely their recollection of the day.

This is so important, and now they will live the rest of their lives with a positive memory of their wedding and not the dour, miserable one they were harbouring before the film.

Don’t drop a couple of grand on the band and cheap out on the photogs!

Haha great to hear, it's definitely a rewarding job when you do it right!

really amazing sharpness and tonal from your camera shots ,, I really like it

Thank you!

Wow speechless.. Maybe u would do mine soon.. Lol

Heck yeah! That's dedication right there. We shoot wedding videos and totally feel you on needing to get those crucial moments while also wanting to get a bit creative. Gorgeous shot! Looks like dirtying up the suit paid off!

Thanks! It's always a tricky balance to manage but I'm sure you've found the same - it comes with experience! Still a great job to do!
