The Needle Mountain Range in the Colorado Rocky Mountains

in photography •  7 years ago

These are the jagged rugged and immensely impressive Needle Mountains, a subrange of the San Juan Mountains. Located in the Rocky Mountains in southwestern Colorado. Much of the range is protected in the Weminuche Wilderness of the San Juan National Forest. The range is notable for having some of the most rugged mountains in the state. (Research Source)

I lensed this image while flying deep into the mountains in February. Aircraft performance in the deep cold is excellent with the cold dense air providing superior lift and because cold air molecules a tighter and denser my propeller gets a better bite providing excellent thrust to carry me high in these mountains conditions. Yehaw!

This image is from my ongoing project in which I am trying to raise awareness of the 47% of the USA and 90% of Canada that remain unpopulated wilderness.

Where Eagles Fly - The American Wilderness Expedition is my personal mission to introduce people to these amazing locations that surround us.

If you are interested in helping with this project I would love to have your assistance! Please consider upvoting or donating and then resteemit so that others may experience these wondrous places as well.

Yehaw!!
