Tunnel of Trees to the One Pillar Gate of Bongjeong-sa Temple.

in photography •  6 years ago

I had to drive for 5 hours getting to Bongjeong-sa temple from Seoul.
5 hours distance is not a short in Korea.
Bur riding a car for 5 hours was so amazing, I could enjoy the mountains and the colors of changing season.

As arriving at the temple, I was so pleased to see the trees around the temple.
I needed to walk through the trees. It was a tunnel of the trees, especially the pines.
The scent of the pines made me feel refreshed.

I walked through the pines slowly to enjoy the feeling of exhilarating.
Of course I took some pics of the pines to share with my steemian friends.
It was a pity that I could not send you the scent of the pines.

After 10 minutes walking, finally I could see the one pillar gate.
The one pillar gate of Bongjeong-sa temple was not splendid but simple and unshophiscated.

Suddenly a question was rising, how this simple architecture could be listed on the UNESCO.

I agree that 5 hours is quite a distance to drive in Korea. Smaller roads than what I am used to made it a little more challenging for me.

The scenery there is absolutely beautiful, especially the tunnel of trees. Oh, to be surrounded by the scent the pine. All of my senses would be enjoying that delicious smell. I noticed that your trees are changing color, I did not think that it was the season I've change right now come however I could be wrong.

It was a very beautiful walk and I hope that the temple was not a disappointment to you. The gateless very simplistic, but I was hoping that after you get through the gate, you would be pleasantly surprised.

Thank you for comment
Of course it did not disappointed me.

You are welcome and it is always my pleasure. I actually did not think that you would ever be disappointed, and perhaps that was the wrong word to use. May be surprised would have been better. Anyway, I'm glad it was a great day

🎁 Hi @slowwalker! You have received 0.1 STEEM tip from @dswigle!

@dswigle wrote lately about: Mountain Monday Goes Monochrome Feel free to follow @dswigle if you like it :)

Sending tips with @tipU - how to guide :)

I bet the reason it is listed on the UNESCO it is because of the location and history connected to such a small monument! I bet the views on that drive were superb 😉

Beautiful place... Amd..... Very lovely post and photoshoot...my dear friend

@slowwalker, After long time ride you very reached to Bongjeong-sa Temple. Under the tree shades still you walk given cool feelings. You told it tunnel of the trees. Yep agreed coz everywhere indeed trees still road. If you can't send scent to me of pines I can feel it through your professional photo clicks. We can see next day inside of this temple.

Awesome photos, you can literally smell the fresh air

Thank you for these pictures, it is a nice walk when you are surrounded by so many pine trees, I love walking in parks with pine trees, there is normally very still as wind can't blow through, the ground is usually completely covered with dry needles so it is nice to walk on and there is no weed can grow though. Have you also noticed such wonderful fresh scent, only because of that it worth to have walk there. Beautiful place and you were lucky with weather :)

Thank you for comment
Yes it was really pleasant walking with the pine trees.

@slowwalker 0.o driving for 5hrs gosh my butt would hurt and i bet its really draining on energy. well the sceneries are worth it :)

Thank you for your information

The temples are always in the midst of good nature setting @slowwalker and it is good for both the monks who live there and the pilgrims that may visit those places.

Aha! so it's a UNESCO site. I think this simple architecture is unique itself and surrounded with beautiful nature and greenery. I would like to see this place myself and I hope one day I can. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Excellent publication, but personal experience is more.

Wonderful tunnel of trees! These trees are so big and beautiful. I also love that they look refreshing with a lot of green leaves. It’s really great that you walked among nice nature like this to the temple. (Yeah! I would love to touch “the scent of the pines” through your photos, if possible.)

I also like the Pillar Gate, very interesting and beautiful architecture! ;)

This was so delightful to read (=
