A Natural Wonder...A MUST SEE IF YOU LIVE IN AMERICA!

This is Lower Antelope Canyon! You probably recognize this picture from the Screensaver of Microsoft or Britney Spears' music video "I'm Not a Girl."

Well, it's a hidden GEM located just 5 minutes East of Page, Arizona.

A MUST SEE if you are near the area! It's located in the Navajo Indian territory.

You have to do a tour to see this incredible Natural Wonder, so we chose Ken's Tours and we were beyond satisfied.
When you start on the tour, it honestly looks like a large crack in the ground.

It is so deep and narrow that you have to step down backwards on a ladder!

The name Antelope Canyon came for two reasons...#1 the Navajo Indians would hunt the Antelope and steer then to this large crack where the Antelope couldn't make the jump and would fall through the crack and #2 water is found at the bottom and again Antelope would get down to drink water but not able to get back out, which would again help feed the Navajo.

What causes the swirling effect? The bottom portion is carved out by heavy flash floods that rush, circle and push through the canyon while wind blows and cuts the upper portion of the canyon walls.

Hope you enjoy these amazing photos! Some angles make shapes of animals and faces...it's very fun to imagine!

Nice photos of a fantastic looking place! We're driving through Arizona in February but I don't think we're going to make it that far north. We're probably going to stay just in the south along I10 since we need to move pretty fast into Texas.
This canyon will definitly stay on my list of places to go!

Yes, keep it on your list along with seeing Horseshoe Bend...it's in the same town of Page, AZ. If you get that far North then heading to Bryce Canyon is amazing! I am posting those photos in the next couple of days!

In New Mexico is the Canyonlands that we heard are a MUST SEE too! Haven't been there, but if you are driving through, sounds like it is worth it!

Also a must see if you are not from America ;) Great shots! Loved the intricate structure!

Thank you! Are you here in America or in Germany then?
