Black swallowtail (Papilla polyxenes)

in photography •  6 years ago  (edited)

Long ago, one of my daughter's preK teachers got her very interested in butterflies. That excitement infected the rest of our family. We've been enamored of them ever since. Not long after Aryanna attended Mrs. Pillans' class her teacher lost her battle with cancer. We will be forever grateful. We never see a butterfly without thinking of her. We try to pass along the gift she gave us. The smallest, simplest things are remarkable and worth a second look. In fact, they are amazing. This year we have had the pleasure to host many new Black Swallowtail butterflies. Many thanks Mrs. Pillans... we will remember you always... in the butterflies...
