Top 10 Favorite Bumblebee Photos - Goodbye until next year

in photography •  7 years ago  (edited)

One of my favorite things about having so many gardens, is giving back to nature by offering them a variety of food sources. These bumblebees enjoyed the nectar from my garden flowers. I am going to miss seeing them flitting here and their to feast throughout the season. The last photo was a hornets nest we found in one of our trees after the leaves fell. Such a cool feat to create such a massive home.

Thank you for stopping by my post, I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my favorite bumblebee photos.

Until next time, this is Sunscape...

Dang! What camera did you use to take these macro shots? As I garden more, I find more critters and bees in my garden but I only use a cellphone to take shots so far...

~ Kevin

Hi Kevin, I have a Pentax ks2 with multiple lenses. I mostly use my 300 mm lens in the yard, I have a macro lens, but without draging out a tripod, I get them too blurry. I started experimenting with my i phone 7 this summer, I think it does pretty well too.

Thanks for the info! I have an old Nikon D70 I've been thinking of upgrading + potentially getting a macro-style lens too.

Oh you will have fun with that for sure. I don't get mine out as much as I could, I should take more nature walks and have some fun shooting different stuff. Good luck with the upgrade, I just did mine a year ago, I have a pentax ks2 and am happy with it so far.

I'll take a look at the Pentax as well!

I love this collection! You captured them really well!

Thank you very much, I love taking photos of the big bumblebees they are so amazing to watch gather the pollen.

So I am in awe of your macro photography and of course I love that you appreciate the bees! Thanks for sharing these fantastic photos! My favorite is probably the one with the bumblebee covered in pollen!

Wow, I love the one covered in pollen too! He was so busy and seemed so happy to just be a bee! ;-)

Thanks for sharing your stunning Bee photos sunscape !
So many gardens get pavement now a days and people wonder that they see less bees.
It was a very bad trend and I hope it will stop soon.

Where I live (Holland) in my neighbourhood we were asked to let at least 1 square meter of our gardens go wild and watch what happens.
It was a big succes :)

So thanks for looking after the bees so well !

I am so happy you enjoyed the bee photos, I plant enough variety for them to enjoy all season long. It is so sad to see so much building going on w/o regard to the wildlife. I think the younger generation will be the ones to make the needed changes. ;-)

Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos. Seeing the bumblebee busy in its life can be mesmerizing. Upvoted.

Thank you very much, I love enjoying watching them gather the pollen
