Zephyranthes minuta

Zephyranthes minuta is a species of flowering plant in the Amaryllidaceae family, commonly known as the dwarf rain lily or miniature zephyr lily. It is native to Central and South America and is found in various habitats, including grasslands, savannas, and disturbed areas.

The plant has narrow, grass-like leaves that emerge from a bulbous base and can reach up to 15 cm in height. The leaves are typically green, but in some cultivars, they may have a slightly bluish or grayish tinge. The flowers of Zephyranthes minuta are funnel-shaped and appear on thin, wiry stems that rise above the foliage. The flowers can be white, pink, or a pale shade of yellow and are typically about 1-2 cm in diameter.

Zephyranthes minuta is a hardy plant that is relatively easy to care for. It prefers well-drained soils and can tolerate full sun to partial shade. The plant is drought-tolerant and can survive short periods of dryness, but it grows best with regular watering. It is often grown in rock gardens, as a border plant, or in containers.

In some regions, Zephyranthes minuta is considered an invasive species, as it can spread rapidly and outcompete native plants. However, in its native range, it is an important part of the ecosystem, providing food and habitat for a variety of insects and other wildlife.
