There is a place in Rishikesh, India that the Beatles made famous, by their time and journey there studying meditation with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
I made a visit there in 2016, to wander through the meditation huts and abandoned buildings that were overgrown with vines and graffiti.

For me, it was really nothing to do with the Beatles, and the ground had an air to it that lended itself richly to falling into a deep union with ultimate reality. I sat with a friend and meditated and it was perhaps one of the best meditations i have had to date.
Why?

it was effortless
sheer absorption done unto me...
through me and beyond, years of experiences passed through and "i" was no longer there
Why did it happen then and there?

i could say it was that the place was full of the most conducive meditation vibes, or that i had spent many years practicing Transcendental Meditation that were coming to a culmination in that place
at that moment
or that my devotion was rewarded at last

unnamed-3.jpg

my willingness to merge
was received in the holy land from where these practices were born
or...?
i had surrendered enough to be fertile
a mind that has analyzed all the alternatives
and found them wanting
becomes very ripe to
merging with infinity

Remember dear friends,
it's not as far away as we might be led to believe
looking at mainstream society values
or getting caught up in the hustle for satisfaction
in temporal things

In the Upanishad's, one of India's most ancient wisdom records, it is said:

"Just as people may cross a field, day after day, unaware that a treasure lies buried there, so too do people, day after day, wake up, go about their duties and then go back to sleep, unaware of that immortal Self buried deep within themselves."

It's all there
liberation
within
for the one who is willing
to simply
begin
to be
aware

you may want to check it out one day...

or maybe just sit down in a quiet spot
in your hood
wherever that may be
and see what you can find out

Wonderful I went there in 2010/11 looks quite kinda different now. But it has such energy! Did you manage to get on the roof to the meditation pods? When I went the ladders were sketchy so they might have gone now. Thanks for sharing 💯🐒

i did get on the roof! It's definitely sketchy though i agree!

Stunning views of Rishikesh 💯🐒

@tamaralee w9nderful presentation of ashram. So good defined the life and the magic behind each of the hidden treasure. Rishikesh is great place for meditation and glad you explore it pretty well.....Followed you...Upvoted you..! Good to see some fabulous post about India....👍

Hey 'yogini anarchist' you have not achieved your goals yet. You have just started your journey. Spiritual journey is not about finding your destination, it is a continuous travel which takes you up from one level to another.

Ha ha! Please don't get angry on whatever I wrote above (Yogis should never get angry!).
It's very nice to learn that the Beatles came to Rishikesh for meditation. I live near Rishikesh but I had no idea about it. BTW yogini and anarchist both the words generates same feeling and meaning. A true yogi is free of every boundation. Yogi is limitless and doesn't confirms to worldly rules and rituals and hence is an anarchist. Nice post, love it.

This is the first time I have read your post.........

'Yogini anarchist' - this phrase speaks volumes :-)

I never knew that Beatles actually visited India for spiritual purposes. In India the land between rivers Ganges and Yamuna is called the land of two waters. The Spiritual heart of the land.

Hermoso...
