The Barbet (5 Color Bird) was in Daan Park which is close to the Taipei, Taiwan 101 World Trade Center and west of Elephant Mountain. Daan park has quite a few water birds in the lake but the Barbet is a real draw for bird photographers. There was a police barricade around the tree where the Barbet was nesting and no one was allowed within about 10 meters of the tree. The Barbet
's beak is open because it is panting in the Taiwan heat.
While the serious birders had 300-500 MM lens on tripods, I wasn't prepared for the opportunity and the longest thing I had was a 120 MM.
