Photo Journey Day 66: Urban Night Photography

in photography •  7 years ago

Last night I had a lot on my mind and was very restless. So I decided to load up my camera gear and wander the city while listening to a great jazzhop mix.

My first stop was gore park in downtown Hamilton. The city had recently turned on the fountain for the summer season.

With night photography you typically want to have a tripod, but taking the advice from my good friend mikeheinhold (instagram), I opted not to bring one. It makes night photography that much more challenging.

I went to another section of the park that has a war memorial and had never seen this little picture in one of the displays.

After the park, I just wandered around parking entrances, city hall, alleys and the streets.

Mike's advice about not bringing a tripod was great! I had gotten a little bored with night photography and not having one added that extra level of difficulty to get my interest peaked! I am the type of person who needs a challenge and I will be doing this more.
