Approaching the shoreline, it's not readily apparent what is in store for you.

And then, you begin to get an idea of what is coming.

You really can see the sun move as it sets below the horizon.

What happens next takes you by surprise.

And then, a crescendo of light and color.

Those are beautiful. I traveled there a LONG time ago and it is a beautiful place to look at nature. You got some great pictures.

Thanks, I took close to 100 pics that night.

I may make another post of the clouds over the lake right after the sun went down.

Did you see the green flash?

Great pictures. Your intro reminds me of my own experience with seeing that lake for the first time. It is quite a surprise.

The landscape hides the lake pretty well until you're almost on top of it.

I'm not sure what you mean by the green flash.

Its an old legend that just as the sun sets on the water once can see a brief green flash. I cant say i have seen it, but it may depend on whether you brought cans or bottles to the beach :)

That may be a big part of it. ;-)

Some beautiful shots. I think that Lake Michigan has the most beautiful sunsets in the world. Followed.

They certainly are nice but I'll withhold judgement until I can see sunstes at a few hundred other places. ;-)

Lovely shots! My wife is from Michigan. She always likes to brag about the fact that they have more lighthouses than any other state in the union. And I'm like, "whatever, it's just fresh water."

Thanks, I can thank Steemit for reminding me that we have really great sunsets.

We hadn't watched one for a few years and it's literally a 5 minute drive.
