Pictures exemplify geometrical beauty in structure, lines, angles, and solidity. Architecture is artistic designs. A geometrical work of art to be appreciated, no doubt.

I agree thank you!

your monochrome photos convey the sense of abstract art. The brooding sky gives a textural and mood contrast with geometric planes and lines of the architecture. I appreciate this effect and think your art is very beautiful.

Thanks so much mate:)

It's quite abstract and has depth too Very good show of line forms @thecryptofiend

Thank you!

@cryptopie got you a $0.01 @minnowbooster upgoat, nice!

Great work! The architecture is similar to some of the buildings in downtown Jackson Mississippi!

For the first time, and I am actually surprised, I find the lines and symmetry beautiful . Something about the way it all lines up perfectly!

  • Edit - Actually maybe its just great photography :)

Thank you:)

You're Welcome! I think you were one of the very first I followed it been interesting coming back to your blog again .
Have a great day :)/Night:)

Thanks!

Great shots. One more time very nice work @thecryptofiend !

Thank you!

Where is this building? It looks like a modern take on the brutalist movement of the early-mid 1900s. Repeated rectangle motif and raw exposed concrete, minimal, if any, adornment.

It's in Newcastle. Not sure what it is called though.

Found it! Originally called "Swan House", now called "55 degrees north".

And here's a document on the history of the location and building (pretty neat): https://fiftyfivedegrees.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/55-degrees-northfinal.pdf

Yes you are right that rings a bell!

these are very very very interesting pictures :)

Thank you!

This reminds me of a concept I find many people don't tend to think of.

Our architecture impacts our psychology and the way we think.

It makes sense, doesn't it? We live in our architecture, we are surrounded by it, it is what our entire civilization is based in.

The way it's structured, the way it's placed, what it contains, what it represents, all of these things effect our thinking, the way we compartmentalize, the way we interact with each other and the way we interpret things.

Thoughts on this?

I definitely think it does. A lot of modern architecture is quite poorly designed - particularly modern housing and I think it does have an effect.

It's a shame. Go check out "the nerdwriter" on youtube. He does a very compelling visual essay on the subject.

Yes I am familiar with him but didn't know he had covered it. Thanks.

Of course : )

Beautiful shots! I like them a lot :)

Thank you!

I have a Nikon camera and I absolutely love it, but I'm not as good as you haha.
These are some amazing shots.
So many intricate shapes.

Thank you. It is just something I'm practicing lately - previously I would only do portrait photos.

Good shots with nice lines, specially the second and fourth, but I really hate this kind of building 8-).

It's personal taste. I prefer older buildings but I don't dislike modern ones.

Nice shot from every angle loved it.

Thank you!

"Black and white are the colors of photography. To me they symbolize the alternatives of hope and despair to which mankind is forever subjected."

Nice description - thank you.

Ur photos are osum..keep it up...

Thanks!

Very nice pictures. These lines are perfect. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you!

Nice work dude. Lovin' these lines! Clouds look great in a couple of these as well!

Thanks!

The lighting is so striking and the lines look super crisp. I especially like #2. Nice work!

Real nice clean shots!

Thank you:)

I take it you've been at this for a while they look professional. I'm very new to photography just bought a canon eos 1300d , my first camera and I'm thinking I like to get a macro lens any suggestions. Thanks mike

Thanks! Not sure about macro lenses - they tend to be of high quality but can be quite expensive. Are you actually looking to do macro photography alone or use it as an all-round lens?

Seeing some of the photography on Steemit kind of made me think about it some of the close ups you see are great. The camera came with 18-55mm and 75-300mm lens or do you think that's enough for a beginner to be going on with. Thank you for your reply cheers mike

Absolutely - it is good enough to get close to large objects and get practicing. To be honest macro lenses are great but they are overkill for most purposes unless you are concentrating on photographing small objects or on doing extreme closeups. None of my photos on here were done with macro lenses .

Well thank you very much mate for your advice. I'm of this weekend so a little homework I think and a bit of practice . Nice one mike

Cool let me know when you post the results! (Send me a message in the chat).

I posted some pictures a few days ago of goldfinches in my garden maybe if you get the time I'd be very interested to here what you think. Cheers mike

Interesting angle choices and overall they look great! On a personal level I liked the cityscape of the 2nd the most but very nicely done!

Thank you so much. It is hard for me to be sure with my own photos so your comments are very much appreciated:)

Great pics but what's the building? I love brutalist buildings and write best in them I find!

It's in Newcastle.

Amazing photography! The way you shot this is truly great!

Thank you:)

When I look at modern arcitecture I cant help to wonder what happend! 😊 Old buildings are beautiful, just watching them is relaxing! Walk through old european citys is a blast! Newer buildings not so much. Look at Berlin, the buildings that survived the war and what came after..

Well some modern art is amazing but overall the quality is lower with more ancient buildings. I think it is due to people cutting costs and the loss of many of the crafts and trades that were involved in older structures.

Yeah. I sometimes think about what stuff were built in ancient times. Its amazing what man can do! 😊 Bridges from roman times still there, the pyramids.. you know!

Yes and in Britain we have many buildings like cathedrals and castles that are up to 1000 years old that are still standing (as long as they are looked after).

Great photos @thecryptofiend Number 2.great composition

Thank you:)

Stunning shots!!

Thank you!

Nice images, you sure have a good eye for it!

Thank you!

Wow, a very beautiful building and a very nice photo. Really great architecture that designed the building.
I am also an architect, but I am not able to design like the building.
