A Weekend in Cape Town

Natural beauty and cosmopolitan flair, we enjoyed a bit of everything whilst celebrating my better halves birthday

Meeting place, just below the Cable Station.

As we set off, we came across a Glossy Ibis, a common resident

Some interesting information about the floral attributes of Table Mountain and surrounds.

Fynbos,
The Cape Peninsula alone has 2 285 species on an area a third the size of greater London. It has three times more plant species per square kilometre than those fabulously lush rainforests.
For this, it was declared one of the world's 34 biodiversity 'hot spots', and in 2004, was confirmed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (source: www.southafrica.net)

Some 'fynbos' flora on the slopes of Table Mountain

We decided to take a short walk along the Pipe Track before heading into Gardens to my favorite pizzeria. This walk is along the southern slope of Table Mountain.Below is a view of the Twelve Apostles

This overlooks Camps Bay where Jan Van Riebeck established a water station for the then Dutch East India Company (circa 1652)

In the photo below, to the right of the bridge one can see the water pipes which carry water from the dams on Table Mountain

A misty Camps Bay

Must include the birthday girl...

Two more from the mountain, then off to town we go !!

Enjoying drinks while waiting for our pizza's..

We were booked into a boutique hotel called DaddyLongLegs Art Hotel, these are our rooms.

This room is a 3d F1 racing car {grin}

Hanging out on the balcony of our hotel, watching the passerby's below.

The cloakroom glass walls at the hotel

I will post a second installment as this is getting really long. In the next post we explore Long Street, and head off to dinner. In the morning we walk on Lions Head.

lovely pictures ....looking forward to episode two

Thanks Fempower... Cape Town is a beautiful city and was voted as one of the Top 10 cities in the world to travel to in 2015 (not sure which organisation though)

That glass wall is "interesting".

Agreed, but more 'interesting' is that it is literally a glass wall. So when you are in there.....if you put the light on...errrr, you and your nethers are on display

I liked the wildflowers, the Twelve Apostles photo, and the interesting bathroom!

Thanks for the feedback @steemerpat !! Much appreciated. Just out of interest those wildflowers are part of a floral kingdom named 'Fynbos' and if you are interested you can read more here.
